1) Mae Nak Pra Khanong (Lady Nak of Pra Khanong)
this story originally come from Thailand. The story began with a young and beautiful girl named Nak. she is happily married with her husband, Tid Mak. one day, Mak were called to serve for the army and leave Nak with baby in her belly. As to be fate, Nak were dead while giving birth to her baby. since Nak loves her husband so much, she wants to 'stay'. When Mak came home from the army, he found out that her wife and child were waiting for him, not knowing that Nak is actually a ghost. Everyone in the village scared to tell Mak about his ghost wife because Nak will kill whoever told to her husband that she was already dead.
One day, as Nak were cooking in the kitchen, a lime fell from the porch and she tried to grab it. In her haste, she elongated her hand to pick the lime. Mak saw it and scared of his dead wife and leave to a holy temple, hoping that his ghost wife can't enter the shrine. Nak know about it and went furious and killed the villagers of Pra Khanong. Later, Nak's ghost were captured by a powerful exorcist and put it in a jar and throw it into the river. The story were so popular due to its devotion toward her husband. they also build a shrine for her.
2) Split Mouth Woman (Kuchisake-Onna)
A story from Japan urban legend, about a woman who wear surgical mask (its not weird because people wear surgical mask in Japan is common) wondering around in the night. if there are any little kid walking alone in the night, she will stop and ask the kid while showing her split-ed mouth "am i beautiful?"
if the kid reply no, she will take out her big scissors and kill her/him. but what if the kid say yes, well...you might say that kid will be safe. no bloody killing happen. wrong!. she will take out her scissors and cut the mouth like hers. the moral value from this is, Don' walk alone at night because you might have split-ed mouth like Kuchisake-Onna.
3) The sweet girl of Ancol bridge.
the story is originally comes from Indonesia. It is a story about a poor girl named Maryam. Maryam worked as a servant for a wealthy family. when she turned sixteen, her beauty were so captivated, her boss wants her to be he concubine (mistress). she refused the offer and runaway from the house. as she looking for place to stay, an another rich guy found her and make some advance ( beautiful people were wanted everywhere i guess), but then she rejected the offer. Anger by the rejection, the rich man sent his thugs. Maryam was raped and killed by the suitors, and dumped her her body in the nearby rice field.
some say that they saw an apparition of a women near the bridge. the one who saw her especially male motorist might have an accident.
4) the virgin ghost (Cho-nyo-Gwishin)
this Korean urban legend are everywhere. it can be found in abandoned buildings, especially in school, hospital, wooded area and guess what, also in the bathroom. they have this long hair covering their face and wear white garbs. you will know of its presence when there is sudden change of a temperature, wind change directions, and feel sudden chills.
there is a story about the virgin ghost. there once a man who live in top most floor of an apartment ( i'm thinking about what i saw in Korean drama). One night, the man woke up for someone has knocked his door. he asked who is at the door then the voice said count to 100 with eyes closed and don't make any sound or else, die. when the man opened his door. he found there was no one on the door. Being a superstitious, the man closed his eyes and start counted to 100. being curious, by the number 49, he opened his eyes and the ghost were in front of him. i think you can know what happen to the man.
that's all from now, i'm thinking about sharing Malaysian ghost stories. let me think about it (actually i'm a bit scared) so have fun reading. this is just for fun. and don't forget to lock your bedroom's door tonight.
